Frequently Asked Questions and Responses
Q: I am a student currently participating in a school music program. Why would I consider also enrolling with the Sticks of Thunder Community of Percussion Arts?
R: We certainly recognize the presence of many great school music programs in the KC metro area. What we would provide you with our program is an intensive supplement to the education you are already receiving. Our primary performance focus is on chamber ensemble activity, which serves to prepare many students for professional activities and entrance into college music programs. Perhaps our biggest draw, however, is our instructional team composed of professional players and musical artists, each having insights relevant to the development a successful musical career. Here at Sticks of Thunder, we are serious about providing our students with all the tools to achieve musical success.
Q: I am worried that your weekly schedule may conflict with my current school and/or band schedule.
R: We are aware that most school programs have both after-school rehearsals and special events, including contests, halftime performances, etc. We will work with your school schedule to create an individualized program schedule that avoids regular overlap and allows you to participate in both realms simultaneously.
Q: I just want to take personal percussion/drumset lessons. Can I sign up for that through Sticks of Thunder?
R: Several of our instructors are currently carrying private studios. Just contact our office via phone or e-mail, and we’ll get you set up with the one who best fits your musical needs.
